Coldwell Banker Advantage
I have been fortunate to live in many parts of this country having been raised in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle. My college years were spent in Fairbanks, Alaska and Albuquerque, NM followed by several years in Colorado and Florida. When our daughter Christen arrived, my husband and I focused on determining where would be the best place to raise our family. We weren't brought here for work or even family in the area but instead based on the incredible public school system and outstanding medical care, we chose the Triangle, where we have lived for nearly twenty years.
During this time, we have experienced some of the best of what Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill has to offer. Both of our children attended Chapel Hill schools and graduated from East Chapel Hill High School. Daughter Christen is the co-owner of Itinerant Literate which is taking a love of reading into the community in Charlseton and son Max is in his second year at The Citadel.
I personally benefited greatly from the excellent treatment at both Duke and UNC after I was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 and was treated successfully. I am now privileged to enjoy excellent health and am very grateful for the skillful care that I received.
I feel that I have been given a unique perspective and special appreciation for this place that I call home.
I began my real estate career in 2002 after having previously worked in sales but was now looking for a new career. I’ve long been fascinated with particularly older homes, and to me, that means homes built in the 20s, 30s and 40s specifically. That said, I work with buyers assisting them in the search and purchase of homes of all decades throughout Chapel Hill and Durham as well as all the communities in Orange, Chatham and Durham counties. I love working hard to make sure my clients get the best possible deal on the home of their dreams.
I try to make what can be a complicated and stressful process a little less stressful and overall an enjoyable process. Give me a call or send an email or text when I can be of assistance to you.

I cannot express how much we loved working with Betty! I would recommend her in a heartbeat. She is extremely responsive, smart and savvy. Her knowledge of the area and market is very impressive, and she knew exactly what we were looking for, even after our first meeting together. She isn't afraid to express her opinion and it was very valued by us, but she also reminds you that it's her opinion and that you must make decisions on your own. In addition, she is sweet, caring and funny—traits that make you love her even more.

Go with this realtor if you want your life to be that much easier whilst trying to buy real estate in Wake County: This was my first home buying experience as a new resident to Wake County, during the summer, with a VA Loan. For those who know anything about real estate in this area, you can appreciate the hurculean task these critea created just to get under contract, let alone receive the keys to the house. Betty turned an often daunting task into a seamless and fun one, and educated me along the way. She and her firm were extremely flexible, a feature I needed given that I lived an hour and a half away from where I was trying to buy a house. They also had recommendations for local vendors, another handy benefit for which I was grateful. Pleased all around as I now sit in my lovely home in Cary :)

Betty is just wonderful. She helps you prepare the house for sale and keep you in the loop constantly. She works hard to advertise your property to perspective buyers looking for the property you are selling. She walks you through each step of the process and reassures you as well as explaining exactly what is happening. She is warm, caring and a great sales person. The best decision we made was using Betty C Thompson. She is a dinamo. She helps ease any issue that concerns you. She is a genuine person and knows someone to fix or help you throughout the process. I give her the highest rating.

Betty is outstanding professional! We relocated from Maine to Chapel Hill and had no local knowledge of the area. Betty was very patient with us throughout the home search/buying process. We often visited houses multiple times. When we did submit an offer, she walk us through the process and ensured we understood all the differences from Maine, especially Due Diligence. She has vast knowledge of the Chapel Hill area and was able to advise us on property values, schools, and neighborhoods. I felt she always had our best interest in mind. We are very happy with our home purchases and thankful for Betty's guidance and support.

This is our second time working with Betty, and as with our first experience Betty was an all-star. She is knowledgeable and diligent with her work. Buying a home online could be quite stressful, Betty was with us each step of the way and made us feel quite comfortable with the entire transaction. She was our advocate, and she was also quite honest with value etc. I highly recommend Betty for anyone needing an excellent real estate agent.

Betty made our search an enjoyable experience. As well as being knowledgeable and on top of the process, she listened carefully to what we wanted, brought us to homes likely to meet our needs and was a trusted advisor through the bid, finance and closing process. Her enthusiasm for getting people into the right home is infectious and added immensely to our experience.
