Meryl Streep is a name that’s famous around the globe. This famous actress and philanthropist has made an impact on everything from the movie industry to the humanities.
Starting off in Broadway, Meryl slowly but surely climbed the ranks and became the most well-known and awarded actress ever recorded. Best known for her roles in movies like Out of Africa, The French Lieutenant’s Woman, and The Devil Wears Prada, Mrs. Streep has established herself as a voice for a generation. She was awarded the National Medal of Arts by Barack Obama in 2010, and in 2014 she was also given the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Nominated for an unheard of 30 Golden Globes, Meryl has won no less than 8 times, and she holds the record for the most decorated actress (or actor) in the Golden Globes. She also is the proud recipient of 3 Oscars out of a staggering 20 nominations, and is up again this year for her performance in the titular role of Florence Foster Jenkins.
Her most recent award was just received in this past year, and it was a large one. In early 2017, Meryl Streep was given the Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award, an honorary award given to those who have given lasting contributions to the world of entertainment. Streep gave a strong speech on current events, as a lifelong feminist, humanitarian, and activist.
But Streep isn’t just a big name and a big influence in Hollywood and beyond; she’s a big homeowner too. This actress has bought and owned several homes throughout her career, including a quiet real estate in Salisbury, Connecticut, where she enjoys spending her time off. The waterfront estate on the eastern seaboard is rumored to include a main house, spacious studio, cottage, and two barns, surrounded by ponds, lakes, and picturesque hamlets.
Her most well-known and possibly her most expensive real estate property, is currently up for sale. The charming red brick building looks completely normal at first glance, but this New York real estate is the former residence of A-List celeb and groundbreaking actress Meryl Streep. Located in Greenwich Village, the townhouse is complete with 15 rooms, an outdoor garden, and six fireplaces.
While it was sold by Streep for 9.1 million in 2004, it’s now back on the real estate market for 28.5 million, and with some added features, including a professionally outfitted kitchen, and 450 feet of marble in the luxurious bathroom.
For a time, Streep was living in California. Built in 1954, her L.A. Mansion there had everything an A-list actress might need to live in comfort, with a gourmet kitchen and an outdoor pool-spa. With only 2 bedrooms, the house makes up for it with 3 bathrooms and an enormous courtyard. Almost 3,000 square feet of pure Hollywood bliss. Like her NYC townhouse, Streep also let this property go, selling it to the Yankee’s Alex Rodriguez.
Either way, Meryl Streep has established herself as one of the greatest actresses of our generation, and one with great taste in property.
