Now that the holiday season is here, there are a lot of decisions to be made. Will you be spending holidays with your family or friends in a safe and responsible manner, or will you choose to have your holiday celebrations online via a video conference? Are you going to opt for a conventional Christmas dinner, or something a bit more health conscious?

Of course, these are all important decisions you’ll have to make, but there’s another important decision you’ll have to make up your mind on: cranberry bread or gingerbread? These two traditional holiday foods have been around for quite a while, and both of them have dedicated acolytes who swear by their bread of choice. Which is right for you?

Gingerbread is obviously the more popular of the two, with a history that sees it appear in the Christmas traditions of cultures around the world over the span of almost over a thousand years. In its many iterations, gingerbread has been enjoyed as cookies, bread and a wide variety of other baked goods. A universally acclaimed favorite, gingerbread is always a solid addition to any holiday dinner array.

Then you have cranberry bread, a much newer arrival in the holiday-dinner scene. This sweet and savoury bread loaf doesn’t have the notoriety that gingerbread does, but there are a lot of people who enthusiastically proclaim its superiority in the age old cranberry bread vs. gingerbread matchup. There’s no doubt that it’s a great food, but does it have what it takes to beat out a giant like gingerbread?

Whichever you choose, there’s no doubt that either of these delicious breads will make a fine addition to your Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa dinner spread. At the end of the day, which you choose doesn’t matter a great deal; just pick whichever you and your guests (if you have any) prefer, and have a great holiday season!
