Southern Coastal Realty
Sue Medlin Smith is a Broker/Realtor and a lifelong resident of Topsail Island. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Sue returned home to Surf City to assist and eventually manage her family’s local businesses. She has operated a number of local institutions including Barnacle Bill’s Fishing Pier, Treasure Coast Square Shopping Center, and Dine Ashore, one of the most highly-regarded fine dining restaurants on the island in the 1980s and ‘90s. She has also been active in the community, serving as an Emergency Medical Technician, a choir member at Faith Harbor United Methodist Church, and a board member of the Topsail Island Association of Realtors.
Sue received her real estate license in 1991, at which time she began buying and selling properties in New Hanover, Onslow, and Pender counties. She began offering real estate services to clients on a full-time basis in 2003. Her primary areas of expertise are Topsail Island, Hampstead, Wrightsville Beach, and Wilmington. Sue, a longstanding and active contributor to her community, has an intimate knowledge of the area’s history and a profound understanding of local real estate values, regulations, development opportunities, and market conditions and trends. Sue offers seasoned expert advice and guidance to both buyers and sellers in the Wilmington and Topsail areas and the surrounding region.
Sue, being accomplished and well-respected within the local real estate community, is also recognized and admired for her contributions to the Topsail Island business sector as well. Sue is the Broker-in-Charge at her firm and attends numerous professional training and networking events each year to stay abreast of ongoing market conditions, changes, fluctuations, and trends that may impact her clients. Her extensive network and resources allows her to execute a diverse array of real estate transactions for her clients in the region.
Sue’s company, Southern Coastal Real Estate, isn’t a branch of a national company that charges franchise fees and sets up shop without knowing the local area, its people, and its economic drivers and conditions. Southern Coastal Real Estate is a fully independent, locally-owned and -operated agency that meets the highest fiduciary standards and provides clients with complete honesty and fairness in all matters.
Sue’s lifelong local knowledge and seasoned expertise provides her clients with the most effective and efficient methods for buying and selling commercial and residential properties. Her in-depth understanding of the local economy and coastal properties, alongside her ability to provide unbiased and uncompromised guidance to her clients, sets her apart from other brokers in the area.
